2010 LOG of rescues and events:
Jan. 2nd. –Hiked rocks at Chun’s on report of stranded turtle – Turtle gone–‐ one hour.
Jan 5th. – Baby Turtle–‐with fishing line on left rear flipper at Chuns Reef–‐ easy–‐to remove and released in 15 minutes.
Jan. 15th. - Hawaii Kai–‐Dead turtle –‐finally got pick up by NMFS. Got back an autopsy from NMFS. Turtle died from being run over by a boat. However he did have ingested fishing line in stomach. Reported by Juan Oliphant.
Jan. 18th. – In front of home: Chun’s Reef: Male large turtle approx. 15 years old, no tag, with fishing hook in mouth with line on outside. We were able to remove hook and line.
Jan.20th. – Call at 5:40pm. To get tourist off sitting on large female at Turtle Beach. They left peacefully. She was tagged and she returned to ocean.
Jan 21st., Interview for 2nd. Year of a Japan TV show. Gave us a CD of last year interview. Went to Turtle Beach and got Malama Honu involved in shooting. Approx. 4 hours. Same camera crew as last year–‐ gave t–‐Shirts and posters for Japan’s kids.
Feb. 4th. – Turtle dead at Kaneohe–‐ reported to NMF.
Feb 26. - Tsunami evacuation–‐ Cancel Clean Up!
March 17th. – Juvenile District Court–‐ classes and beach clean up for 22.
March 20th - Call on stranded turtle–‐ got free at high tide–‐ Waialua.
March 27th–‐Cambell High School and Japanese tourists–‐Beach Clean Up.
April 6th 10:32 AM. - Call on Three foot turtle on Ahi Beach, Makaha, with large fishing hook in left rear flipper.
April 21st –80 to 100 people for Military clean up of Alii Haleiwa Beach park–‐. Meet at Surf Center @10 AM. Earth Day! MC Donald’s supplying the lunches.
April – 24th. Regular Beach Clean Up. @ NOON
